Law Works Professional Corporation is looking for talented legal professionals to join its family as it sets shop and expands its offerings in Vaughan.

Law Works – What’s in a Name?

Law Works was founded in July 2012. Our firm represents the following types of clients:

  • York Region companies, enterprises and business owners involved in corporate/commercial disputes;
  • National and international franchisors, and
  • Regionally based experienced franchisees located across Southwestern Ontario, the Greater Toronto Area, York and Durham Regions, and Southeastern Ontario.

Our professional roots and careers were developed over many years in downtown Toronto. In June 2014, we decided to relocate to Vaughan. We believe in and practice at a very high standard in whatever we do.

As Shakespeare wrote, “all that glitters is not gold”. For young lawyers to excel in advocacy, a great deal of mentorship and support is needed, over many years. Providing this critical service to cultivate young professionals is one of the most difficult and lacking aspects of our legal profession in this day and age. We are committed to provide the necessary mentorship to talented young advocates, to grow them and our firm together.

We believe in promoting access to justice to the Canadian public. We are constantly looking to add new ways to deliver legal representation to clients using the best and latest in technological advances. Our firm’s principal, Ben Hanuka, writes a monthly technology column in Canadian Lawyer Magazine. We use a sophisticated lineup of technology tools to deliver our work efficiently and promptly.

In order to successfully deliver access to justice, we are looking to add paralegals to assist in the representation of clients in a variety of suitable cases. Young paralegals, like all other young professionals, need mentoring and guidance. We provide the necessary mentorship and guidance – for good business reasons and as part our commitment to the legal profession.

In addition to our broader corporate/commercial litigation practice, we have a unique and recognized specialty practice in franchise litigation. Our firm’s principal has acted as counsel in many precedent-setting key court decisions that have shaped Ontario franchise jurisprudence over the years. Ben Hanuka is the only Ontario lawyer outside of downtown Toronto who is officially recognized by his peers in the franchise Bar as a leading practitioner in franchise litigation (based on the prestigious annual peer survey of the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory).

Ben is also a frequent writer and trusted authoritative commentator about legal issues in the legal and general business media.

Tis High Time In Vaughan

Downtown Vaughan is undergoing significant and intensive business growth. Major professional service firms are actively setting up shop here. Our offices will be located near a future subway terminal, due for completion in 2015. The station will link Vaughan to Union Station in downtown Toronto. A rapid transit infrastructure will connect Vaughan to other regional centres in York Region.

In the coming decade, downtown Vaughan is aiming to become an urban living centre, featuring inspiring office, residential complexes, restaurants and cafes, hotels, pedestrian shopping areas, arts and cultural facilities, and beautiful urban squares, walkways and bicycle networks.

Lawyers

We are looking for lawyers in the following practice areas, who are based or interested in relocating to Vaughan, and who are approachable, charismatic, and believe in strong integrity and high standards of practice:

  • Mid-level to senior commercial real estate practitioner;
  • Mid-level to senior general corporate/commercial practitioner, and
  • junior to mid-level litigation practitioner.

Paralegals

We are also looking for promising and talented licensed paralegals to join our family. A desire to learn the “craft” according to very high standards and a spotless reputation are a must.
