The Vis Moot, established in 1993, is the world’s leading international commercial arbitration competition, attracting more than 200 teams to Vienna each year. The goal of the Vis Moot is to foster the study of international commercial law and arbitration for resolution of international business disputes through its application to a concrete problem of a client and to train law leaders of tomorrow in methods of alternative dispute resolution.
The competition involves a dispute arising out of a contract of sale between two countries that are party to the United Nations Covention on Contracts for the International Sale of Good. (Source: Osgoode Hall Law School)
Teams from Ontario law schools competed in the pre-moot at the Canadian Regional Rounds throughout the day. The Toronto pre-moot helps students identify weaknesses and narrow the focus of their submissions.
