The Lawyer’s Daily published a two-part series of articles written by Ben Hanuka, with the assistance of Anthony Pugh, associate at Law Works, and Dan Charzewski, paralegal at Law Works, entitled “Franchise renovations and system changes during COVID-19”.
In the series of articles, published on December 1 and 2, 2022, Ben discussed the key legal issues encountered by franchise systems involving large physical spaces during COVID-19. The first article discussed the subsequent economic challenges of supply chain and labour shortages that contributed to delays in renovation project completion and cost overruns. The second article focused on key legal issues involving the contractual framework between the parties and the franchise duty of good faith and fair dealings in the performance of enforcement of contractual terms.
