In the February 2015 article of his Future Files technology column in Canadian Lawyer magazine, Ben Hanuka argues that technology is vital in an advanced society such as ours to life’s basics, and should be recognized as a constitutionally protected right.
In the article, Ben proposes that the right to have reasonable access to technology should be recognized by the courts under section 7 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, on the basis that life in an increasingly sophisticated society such as ours would be unbearable without reasonable access to technology.
